I just saw this Artibani's facebook! I MAY ACTUALLY CRY! DREAMS CAN COME TRUE! DO YOU NOT KNOW HOW MANY TIMES I HAVE DREAMED OF THIS SERIES BEING PUBLISHED OFFICIALLY IN ENGLISH?!

Im so scared and excited! I just hope they don't make banker take down his scans, but I kind doubt it since no one has hit up PKHack about having every issues uploaded already.

This comes out just 8 days after my birthday too! I CAN'T WAIT! I can only hope they translate the PKMail too, or atleast talk about the answers!

The cover looks so weird. Not only that they changed the background from red to blue for some reason, but there's this strange margin around the characters.

But I guess the logo looks kinda cool. Although I still prefer the old crest from the german/swedish releases. But that might be due to nostalgia. At least they didn't call him Superduck again...

Now comes the pain of getting a hold of those comics over here in Europe... *sigh*

Totally called this when IDW first published The Diabolical Duck Avenger. The only thing that had me wondering was just *how* they would publish it, seeing as PKNA's format isn't really suited for the American comic book market (standard issues being 32-40 pages and all, 72 pages would probably end up being too expensive on the market etc.). Glad to see they've taken to doing the series in the "real" way despite potential problems and hoping they commit to doing the entire run, including specials (which are for all intents and purposes annuals anyways) PK2/PKNE down the line. The only really sad thing is that it most definitely won't reach outside of US/Canada due to licensing, especially now that the digest reruns here seems to have been cancelled (at a measly #4, but that doesn't really surprise me). Unless IDW does some kind of TPB with them, which is easily imported.

So, cheers to the good news and also all pat yourself on the back a bit, because this is truly it! Along with PKNE, which surely has had part in this decision, what we've done here, whether by translating comics or just by talking about it certainly has had more than a bit to do with this all being possible!

*ahem*

WE DID IT GUYS, WE TOTALLY DID IT!!!!

This is really awesome Smile Congratulations dear Americans! The collector in me somehow wants to have a copy of these too, but I think it's enough to have the print versions in three different languages. (Well, no, actually it isn't Very Happy )

Well, this doesnt come out until August 30th, so we still have to see if it is decent enough to collect! I know the English version won't be enough for me! I'm still saving to buy the whole collection in Italian, and then a few of the Pk Il Mito collection XD

Though the translator, Mr. Gray, seems very excited and loving of the series, so I have high hopes!

Just heard last night, so sad I didn't hear earlier Sad Regardless - FUCK YEAH!

I was hoping it was one of those "water testing" releases. I mean, why else bother, right?

Damn, what American Comics do you read at 30-40 pages?  Shocked everything I snag lately is 18-20.

TPB's make sense. Has IDW made TPB's of their other new Disney runs yet?

Water testing and to serve as an introduc(k)tion to the character it's been said, which I sorta figured anyways.

Zataro wrote:

Total amount of pages in a standard comic book including non-comic pages, no? But yes, there's normally ~21 pages of actual comics in a standard American comic book or something like that. Which of course makes PKNA stand out even more.

Zataro wrote:

Again something where I could imagine PKNA's lengthy issues can cause some problem. Thick four or more modest (but still quite large) three issue collections? But yes, TPB's should be a no-brainer anyways from a business standpoint, so hopefully it gets done.

Oh, right.

I get them all Digital or TPB these days, so no advert pages, heh. My bad ^^

2-3 issues per-TPB sounds about right though, yeah. When the Italians did those "PK Il Mito" reprints a few years back they did 3 issues per-volume as well, & those came out really bloody thick, even without counting the extras pages.

Although Panini also did a double-issue a while back as part of their PK Giant reprints lineup, merging the 1997 & 1999 PKNA specials into one volume called "PKNA Double Special Edition" so I think the Americans could go either way, 2 or 3.

Shaking my fucken head. I am offended more at Red Raider thsn I am LIla LEE. Let's hope the dialogue translations are atleast decent, but I am dissapointed.

I am going to be screaming if/people stsrt writing fanfiction about this and use the dumb English names.

Lila was most likely a solicit error: the translato said it was officially Lyla the last he was told(and that he generally tries to keep the originals. "Lazy" names like Sam Plot are more likely to be changed, though nothing is certain until the book hits the press), but the last word on the names is Disney's

Lay->Lee is quite obvious....americans have dirty minds.

Red Raider, though, makes no sense whatsoever. I hope it's another solicit error.

Ah, I read Gray's tweets, it's not his fault it seems, its all just Disney being sticklers. I'm still upset, but I can just bat my eyes from it all since I know the real names and everything.

And look at all the covers that are coming! Very nice!

I have heard the Italians pronounce Lyla as "Lila", actually. I have yet to get used to that it's supposed to be that way, and I don't know if I will.

EDIT: And I've just read that, for now, it really is supposed to be LYLA. I did always have a feeling the surname would be changed, though.

"Lila" or "Laila" has been a point of discussion for a while for the Italians readers, until the PK Team gave an official answer: it's supposed to be pronounced "Lyla".

Not much of a preview. The first pages of "Evronians" don't have a lot of text in them.

Yeah, the original version makes it ambiguous to how long it's been, so I don't know why this version gets so specific about it when it wasn't THAT long ago.

EDIT: Asked the translator about it. Apparently again the decision of the guys upstairs. They're insistent on the weirdest things. Like making the story inconsistent.

I got mine yesterday Smile Just haven't found the time yet to read it more closely...
But the weirdest thing I came across until now was that coolflames are now freezeflames. However the translation of Pk's phrase "Quando il gioco si fa duro..." is actually nice: "When the going gets tough... this duck would rather get going".

Lol'd ^^

But yeah, Lyla "Lay" was always going to get changed. Saxony Starbright though, LOL.

Although, they could have done something more discrete, like, Lyla Layson, or something.

Then again, as an Anime fan, I can tell you firsthand, the first round of dubbing is always fucked up in the US. If they give all this a second pass at some point in the future, then it'll go better, but for now, yeah, if it's considered a "risk" or whatever, it's gots to go!

It is after all a completely untested, unproven IP as far as they're concerned, regardless of how much we may have been "demanding" it.

P.S. "Red Raider" & "When Blow the Winds of Time?" - wtf? What, "The Winds of Time" sounded too much like an ASOIAF  ripoff or something? >.>
