PK New Era Discussion

I was thinking about the Micro-Contraction Barrier as well, which apparently pierces through multiple Timelines, as it was present in the Evron-Future, but since Raider could freely travel into the Past, where the Earth hasn't yet shifted out of Orbit, I believe it doesn't exist yet. Based on that, I suppose we're to assume that while Steampunk Duckburg is in the 23rd Century, the story itself takes place before the Barrier goes up....? Or something like that.

The Lyla Paradox on the other hand is weird as hell, though this time we'll definitely get some explanation as to why she still exists in this Time Police-free Universe even though she shouldn't, unlike how she just magically reappeared in PK2 02 after disappearing from PKNA forever in 43. - There's also the Physical changes, which may or may not be relevant (it could easily be an updated Model for some "discrete" Fan Service), or it's a way of hinting towards something being different about her, either way we'll find out in the coming weeks.

IMO there is a chance that she might be from an Alternate Timeline/Universe (Personal Theory - the Raider we knew from PKNA is still stuck under the Micro-Contraction Barrier in the 23rd Century, whereas the Raider that starred in Might & Power is an Alternate Raider, possibly from a different Timeline/Universe, seeing as he mentions how he "found" Odin. Also notice how Trip is conveniently never mentioned....), though to be fair I'm not entirely sure why she'd keep that a secret. Unless we've got some weird Timeline-colliding/merging stuff going on because of all the changes to History someone's doing.

The "Old Man" in the Library is not the Raider though, unless he loses/lost the Biogenerator thingy he got from the Omega Chamber in M&P. Raider is quite probably the mysterious shadow though, note their reactions to him, & I seem to recall some report from a few months back that the Raider would make an appearance in the next (yes, this one) Arc as well. - Don't quote me on that though.


Overall it wasn't a bad start, but I think most people are just generally disappointed because this issue wasn't as "WOW" as Might & Power 01. I mean, there's really very few things that can beat a "You died <insert slideshow of final moments>, & your death resulted in an Alien Invasion & Near-Extinction of Humanity. - DUN-DUN-DUUUUUUN."

Personally I was expecting his Nano Suit & Omega Weaponry (even though that's some seriously overpowered stuff), instead of the Old School Arsenal, though it was a nice touch having them recover the Original X-Transformer (which I guess we're supposed to assume was somehow returned to Ducklair Tower after he hung up his Cape all those years ago?). Since they went through the effort of recovering it however, it does make me wonder if we'll be seeing him using it in the long-term, which would be rather disappointing considering how they even set it up so the Suit version of Omega survived Ducklair Tower's Self-Destruct, unlike how One would have been wiped out. Not really a con IMO, just not what I was expecting.

On the other hand, I found the Ducklair Tower break-in to be ridiculously simple. Sure, I suppose we can assume a bunch of background processes scanned & identified them, informed Omega down in his Super-Secret Lair & let them pass, but even so. Sure, it wasn't even particularly difficult in M&P either (jab open the Gargoyle, jump in, take the Elevator down, wait for the Tower to recognize the Keycard, done), but one would think the Evronian Threat would have put the Tower in a state of higher alert or something.

I did love the references to the past though - Lyla discretely reminding us that she's still never met One, & by extension doesn't know that he got disabled & the Avenger was actually referring to his new Partner, Omega, which made me wonder how that conversation would have gone -  "What? Why do you need a relic? I can just give you another Nanosuit, strip naked & get into the <thing> already." Hahahaha ^^ Later on we also get a reference to (I believe) Day of the Cold Sun, where they discuss how Lyla should technically know nothing of the Future, & she replies that she's taken a few peeks over the years.

All-in-all, it was a start, it set the stage for everything, nothing more, nothing less. I have no doubt things will pick up in Part 2 (some actual explanations for what's going on, at last, I'm thinking), & this Arc will end up being a great read by the time we get to the end (Part 4).

So..... (a) yet-unnamed "terrifying force/s" created a massive amount of extra Space-Time, using a yet-unnamed [object/item] creating some sort of.... Contemporary Infinite Multiverse of Alternative Timelines (Alternative Futures), all within a single Universe?

So "argini" is what, rails? Like, a railroad track? The Rails of Time?
